Burnie Creek 2018

We have had 2 thaws in January 2018 and one of the best ways to catalogue and add info on each shot is through a blog.
As shown in these pictures the source of sediment is south of Isle Vista. Shoreline eroding badly and high water on the 23rd is allowing runoff from farm.

Walked down to talk to Neighbor on south side of Parkette who backs onto the creek. Seems the Diesel Powered Beaver has been taking down trees along the shoreline. Neighbor said this was done at midnight as woke her up. The following shots show this action and the high water.

Fresh tree taken down and how water enters field

Thought there was bylaw about cutting down trees?

On Feb 20th we have had a couple days of rain with mild temps
so walked early to check run off.

Creek bottom ice still solid so this is surface flow

Another new rock shoreline but water cresting

Cresting at 4pm but 2 hours later over top

2 hours later water was at the house

This neighbor was glad he had a new rock shoreline done
but now knows more rocks required on top required

Feb 21st am and you can see the ice that flowed to creek mouth and stopped

As of this pic water has slowed but with more rain and warm temps residents are concerned
massive ice chunks in creek will flow and block mouth
