Picture Tutorial

Peter I thought creating a new blog to show you the history would be a better means. This way I can add info to each picture as well you can double clic on any picture and they will expand to full screen for ease of viewing.

2013 the start...
Mid August 2013 at 7am driving to city I crossed our community bridge and saw this.
Yes a heavy rainfall the night before
This photo and the one above face west towards the farm in question
This shot from same location but to the east towards community marina and to the lake
After returning from the city 3pm same day still a lot amount of sediment in creek.
Note some weeds but no where near today's quantity.
3 pm same day from my place showing sediment flow.
Note flag as winds from NW.
This is my neighbors property east of me and at the creek mouth. Clearly see sediment flow into the lake.
Shot taken 3:15 pm same day as event.
Following days I went to view source.
3 of these have been cut into bank of Bernie Creek
Size of drainage ditches and note no vegetation on berms as berms are the dirt from the ditch. Without going on private property my guess is 2500 meters in length of ditches. Surrounding farm plus one through the middle.
Farm in question adjacent to east side of Island View Beach Community.
Top of farm has a large designated wetland area. Capture also shows creek and out flow into lake.

Volume of flow in the spring...

This inflow enters the creek from the south and enters the creek at a 90 junction. If you add the creek flow which runs west to east to this corner it is creating a whirlpool. This whirlpool is cutting into banks of private property in community and this material is now falling into the creek adding more sediment.
Example of trees falling from eroded banks of creek. This is a result of whirlpool effect just south of this.
Example of whirlpool hitting creek banks
The tree finally entered the lake and my neighbor and I retrieved it. Could have been a navigation hazard.

Shots to show sedimentation over the years...

Spring thaw starting in 2014 showing sediment discoloring the ice at one inflow
Shot taken June 2015 showing still sediment flowing to lake with weeds now flourishing
August 2016 yes still flowing into creek and into the lake
June 2015 showing sediment still flowing out of one inflow and note ground cover growing but still sediment
Above picture showed the sediment still flowing and this shot is 20 feet north of it showing quantity

Before and After...

Oct 2016 and Canada Geese are a sure sign of aquatic vegetation and they are eating the tape grass but leave the Eurasian Milfoil to grow. Geese dig up Tape Grass but leave the roots to float and populate elsewhere.
